Woman sleds into tree
A 23-year-old woman was hospitalized Saturday after she reportedly crashed into a tree while sledding on Grand Mesa.
The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. at the former Mesa Creek Ski Area, a popular sledding spot commonly referred to as old Powderhorn that sits just above Powderhorn Mountain Resort off Colorado Highway 65.
According to police scanner reports, the woman briefly lost consciousness and reportedly broke her leg. No other information was available.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
■ Kolby Wright, 38, address unknown, was arrested Dec. 5 after he was contacted for allegedly shoplifting at Alco, 2696 U.S. Highway 50, and found to have a warrant out for his arrest. He was issued a summons for theft of less than $100.
■ Thomas Moore, 22, was arrested on suspicion of criminal mischief after he allegedly damaged property in the 400 block of North 24th Street on Monday.
■ Police received a report that a juvenile female was sexually assaulted by a known male in the southeast part of the city on Dec. 1. An investigation is ongoing.
■ Someone forced entry into a vehicle in the 2600 block of Lookout Lane on Monday and stole items valued at less than $500.
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Department didn’t produce a booking report or activity log Saturday.
