Meth sale is suspected

Officers with the Western Colorado Drug Task Force arrested Justin Hall, 46, on three counts of drug distribution after finding a pound of suspected methamphetamine under a bed in the motel room where he was staying.

According to the arrest affidavit for Hall, an informant told officers that Hall would sell them methamphetamine. Officers conducting a sting operation purchased a quarter ounce of meth from Hall.

After surveillance, Hall was pulled over for a traffic stop leaving a hotel in the 3200 block of the Interstate 70 Business Loop on Dec. 20. Officers obtained a search warrant for the room and discovered a pound of suspected methamphetamine, which was packaged in multiple bags, in a box under the bed.

Officers also found a large amount of cash in a tennis ball can and a pipe used for smoking methamphetamine in the nightstand, the affidavit said.

Man accused of sex assault

 

A Grand Junction man has been arrested on charges of he sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl.

James Allen Ward Jr., 18, 2607 Grand Ave., was jailed Saturday on a single felony count of sexual assault on a child. As of early Monday evening, he was being held in the Mesa County Jail on a $50,000 co-signed personal recognizance bond.

According to an arrest affidavit, Ward had sex with the girl during a party earlier this summer where party-goers were using alcohol and marijuana.

Cattle, horse theft alleged

 

Douglas William Hammack, 26, of Fruita, was arrested Sunday on a warrant alleging theft of animals, theft of between $20,000 and $100,000 and transporting livestock without the proper inspections, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office. The warrant alleges Hammack took 23 cattle and 11 horses from Kelley Sanburg, worth a combined $25,200.

 

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

■ Christina Olivarria, 38, received a summons Dec. 20 on suspicion of trespassing in a park after hours in the 300 block of South Ninth Street

■ Jaren Edwards, 18, received a summons on suspicion of theft of less than $300 in the 1500 block of Glenwood Avenue on Saturday.

■ Someone entered a home in the 1300 block of North 17th Street and scattered clothing around, alarming the victim on Dec. 20.

■ Alva Medina, 23, Grand Junction, received a summons on suspicion of driving with a revoked license in the area of North Avenue and 29 Road on Saturday.

■ Chance Ridgeway, 35, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of possession of drugs and a possession of drug paraphernalia in the 2800 block of North Avenue on Saturday.

■ Douglass Hamann, 57, and Jason Doering, 38, each were issued summonses on suspicion of trespassing after being contacted in the 500 block of 28 3/4 Road on Sunday.

■ A man reported being assaulted with a deadly weapon in the 1200 block of Texas Avenue on Sunday.

■ Nicholas Diaz, 23, of Grand Junction, received a summons on suspicion of taking items valued at less than $750 from a business in the 2400 block of Patterson Road on Sunday.

■ Michael Buzo, 26, was arrested on suspicion of being involved in a crash in the area of D Road and 29 Road on Sunday. Officers said Buzo was driving under the influence of alcohol.

 

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

■ Items valued at more than $300 were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 400 block of Forelle Court on Saturday.

■ Someone threw rocks at the windows of a house in the 2100 block of McKinley Drive on Saturday, causing $80 damage.
