Two schools locked down

Both Grand Junction High School and West Middle School were on lockdown for about 20 minutes Tuesday afternoon after officers responded to the neighborhood near First Street and Orchard Avenue, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.

Someone reported seeing a teenager in the area with a gun, but officers searched the area and “never found anything,” according to police spokeswoman Kate Porras.

The schools were briefly locked down as a precaution, police said.


Resident reports gunshot

Someone reported Monday night that people had tried to steal property from Apartment 2L at 2680 B 1/2 Road, and fired one shot at the victim, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.

An officer arrived on scene but did not find any suspects, who reportedly fled the scene.

The victim reported being shot at but not struck, the Police Department said.

No further information was released because the case is still being investigated, the Police Department said.

 


Donation jar stolen

A donation jar containing cash to help a local high school student study abroad was stolen Tuesday afternoon from the counter of Enterprise Liquors, 2923 North Ave., according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect’s vehicle was described as a older white full-size Chevrolet van with a luggage rack on top, the store clerk and another witness told investigators.

The van’s driver was described as a tall white man in his 40s or 50s with a beard. The suspect is described as a man in his 20s with darker skin. He was wearing a gray hoodie or sweatshirt, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

■ Three juvenile boys were arrested Saturday at 222 S. Sixth St. on suspicion that two attempted to break into multiple vehicles and one was an accessory to the crime. The boys were released to their parents.

 

According to Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:

■ A laptop computer and its case valued at a combined $1,250 were stolen Sunday from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 300 block of Echo Canyon Court.

■ Items valued at more than $600 were reported stolen Sunday from an unlocked vehicle in the 3200 block of Lands End Avenue.

■ A sex assault on a child was reported Nov. 27. An investigation is ongoing and no further information was released.

 

According to the Montrose County Sheriff’s Department:

■ An injured deer was reported Tuesday morning near the intersection of LaSalle and 6175 Roads. However, the animal was not found.

■ Criminal mischief was reported Monday in the 60900 block of Guernsey Road in Olathe.

■ Criminal mischief was reported Monday in the 61800 block of Colorado Highway 90.
