Dog shooting probed

• Mesa County sheriffs deputies and police in De Beque were investigating an incident Monday in which a dog was reported shot, possibly as part of a road rage incident.
“I was told there was a road rage incident that happened in the city and we had one of our guys out on 32 Road investigating a vehicle that matched the description,” said Heather Benjamin, spokeswoman for the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department. She said a dog might have been involved, but police were still looking into the incident.
Dispatchers said the dog’s owner was looking to get into an altercation with the person alleged to have shot the dog.
The De Beque Town Marshal released few details and was still investigating the case Monday evening.
