Girls given pot summonses
Fruita police were called to Fruita Middle School on Jan. 13 for a drug violation. Police charged a 12-year-old girl with possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, and the pre-teen girl was released to her mother.
The next day, Fruita police issued a summons to a 13-year-old girl at 157 S. Mesa St. on suspicion of possessing less than 1 ounce of marijuana.
Assault of woman seen
The Grand Junction Police Department is trying to get more information about an incident that was reported Monday. A person called 911 to report that a woman in the passenger seat of a dark blue Dodge Ram 1500 was being assaulted by the man driving the pickup. The incident happened around 11 a.m. on 12th Street near North Avenue.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
■ Julie Weinke, 53, was cited on suspicion of child abuse and released on Feb. 8.
■ Krystal Wright, 22, and Anika Valdez, 22, are each accused of shoplifting from 2881 North Ave. on Feb. 9.
■ Wayne Priest, 57, was issued a summons on suspicion of shoplifting at 2881 North Ave. on Monday. He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.
■ James Ross, 51, is accused of twice violating a protection order on Monday.
■ Aaron Morphis, 48, is accused of first-degree criminal trespass and theft of less than $750 from a vehicle in the 100 block of North 4th Street on Wednesday.
According to the Fruita Police Department:
■ Police stopped a stolen vehicle Jan. 13, and the driver of the vehicle, Brian Richardson, 29, was arrested on six outstanding warrants and was found to be a habitual traffic offender.
■ Allen Colombo, 33, is accused of violating a protection order at 101 Bonnie Vista Drive on Jan. 13.
■ A 13-year-old girl is suspected to taking $200 from a business owner at 340 U.S. Highway 6&50 on Jan. 13.
■ Jerald Herkimer, 31, is accused of first-degree burglary, assault on an at-risk adult, vehicular assault, third-degree assault, violation of a protection order, careless driving and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
■ Bryan Sherrard, 33, is accused of violating a protection order and first-degree criminal tampering.
■ A 15-year-old boy was issued a summons on suspicion of being in possession of marijuana on Jan. 21. A similar summons was issued on Jan. 22.
■ A warrant was issued Jan. 22 for a sex offender who failed to register in the city limits of Fruita.
■ Someone cut the fence at a business at 616 E. Grand Ave. on Jan. 23 and stole about 25 gallons in diesel fuel.
■ A truck was damaged in the parking lot of Fruita Community Center on Jan. 24. Damage was less than $500.
■ Brett Nankervis, 23, was issued a summons Jan. 25 for unnecessary noise.
■ A laptop was stolen from 265 Honeysuckle Circle on Jan. 27.
