Next Safe Kids class set
The next installment in the Mesa County Safe Kids community class series will take place at 7:30 p.m. March 5 at Canyon View Vineyard Church Chapel at 736 24 1/2 Road on the south side of the church’s campus.
The free classes are hosted for parents and teens by the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department and Crime Stoppers of Mesa County. The topic for March 5 will be the effect of marijuana on the brains of teenagers. The class will focus on how THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, affects brain development in adolescents.
The class is limited to 250 participants. Families can RSVP at http://www.mesacountysafekids.org. An email will be sent to those who RSVP to confirm their seat reservation.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
■ A male is suspected of sexually assaulting a female Feb. 10 in the northwest part of the city.
■ A juvenile male was issued a summons Friday in the area of 29 Road and Texas Avenue on suspicion of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and failure to provide valid proof of insurance.
■ Someone unlawfully entered a vehicle Feb. 8 in the 100 block of North Spruce Street and stole property valued at less than $500.
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Department did not provide crime reports on Sunday.
