Woman’s body found
A body believed to be that of a Loma woman missing since Saturday afternoon was found Monday morning.
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Department said the body, thought to be the remains of 62-year-old Roxanne Kostka, was located at 9:45 a.m. between N and O roads and 15 and 16 roads, not too far from Kostka’s home.
New information in the case Monday suggested Kostka wanted to harm herself, the Sheriff’s Department said. Deputies are working with the Mesa County Coroner’s Office to determine cause and manner of death, while confirming identity.
Kostka was last seen at 4:30 p.m. Saturday near her home in the 400 block of M Road in Loma. The Sheriff’s Department’s search and rescue volunteers and Colorado National Guard assisted in the search.
No charges in assault
Mesa County Sheriff’s Department deputies determined no charges were appropriate, citing “conflicting statements” from women who allegedly assaulted each other at an apartment Sunday afternoon in the 3200 block of White Avenue, according to an incident report.
The women, 29 and 32, both of whom were found naked with blankets covering them when deputies arrived at the apartment, said one attacked the other after becoming upset when they brought a man back to their apartment to have sex, the report said.
The Grand Junction Police Department on Monday did not release a daily patrol report.
