Party report leads to arrest
Jonathan Orlando Almengor, 20, 2903 Dawn Drive, No. 4, was arrested early Sunday at 2915 Orchard Ave, after deputies were called to the address after reports of a loud party, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department.
Almengor was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a dangerous or illegal weapon and possession of alcohol by a minor.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
■ Zachary Olen Turman, 23, 115 W. Wellington Ave., was arrested Sunday morning in the 1800 block of White Avenue on suspicion of two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
■ A 29-year-old man was ticketed on suspicion of shoplifting after flash drives were taken from a Grand Junction Walmart and the man ran from officers when they tried to contact him. The man was found in a nearby strip mall across the parking lot.
■ An 11-year-old girl was ticketed Feb. 9 on suspicion of stealing items out of lockers at Bookcliff Middle School, 540 29 1/4 Road. The items stolen were valued at less than $500.
■ A thief stole a 2009 Dodge Ram that was valued at more than $20,000 from a business in the 700 block of Independent Avenue on Thursday.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:
■ A fire was started Wednesday in the 3100 block of Chipeta Avenue. The fire was near a residence and damage was reported, but no more information was released because the investigation continued.
■ A suspicious incident was reported Tuesday in the 500 block of West Greenfield Circle. The case was being investigated. No further information was available.
■ An infant was taken to a hospital with serious injuries Tuesday after deputies were dispatched to 3200 White Ave. after reports of a choking infant. The incident was being investigated.
