Elderly man dead in Utah

An 81-year-old man reported missing Saturday was found Monday night by Utah sheriff’s deputies when they responded to an unattended death about 11 miles west of the Colorado border.

Police closed the investigation into the whereabouts of Lou Schneider with the discovery, and the death is not believed to be suspicious, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department.

Schneider was reported missing on Saturday evening by his family, who believe he went missing sometime after eating a meal at the Golden Corral restaurant in Grand Junction.

Investigator Brent Pace with the Grand County Sheriff’s Office said Schneider’s body was discovered about two-thirds of a mile from his car, which had run off the road in a remote area. Pace said Schneider tried to walk back to Glade Park but died on the way.
