No jail visits temporarily
Inmate visitation will be closed Monday and Tuesday because of construction in the detention center lobby, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department.
Inmate visitation scheduling also will be closed Monday, but visitation appointments will be accepted on Tuesday through the inmate visitation hotline, 244-3536.
Sheriff helping fundraiser
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Department is partnering with the Aeropostale store in Mesa Mall for the Teens for Jeans program, which will donate used jeans to local homeless teenagers.
People can drop jeans in a donation box located in the administrative lobby at the Sheriff’s Department during business hours starting Monday. The jeans will be collected through Feb. 14 at the Sheriff’s Department at 215 Rice St.
Anyone who donates a pair of jeans can get a discount on a new pair of jeans at the Grand Junction Aeropostale store. Visit http://www.dosomething.org/teensforjeans for more information.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
■ Emily Claire Janoe, 30, was arrested Wednesday in the 2500 block of Van Buren Avenue on suspicion of assaulting a person and causing less than $100 damage.
■ Sara Spradlin, 26, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of taking merchandise valued at more than $1,000 from Kohl’s, 636 Market St. In a related arrest, Kelly Davis, 50, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of theft and possession of a dangerous or illegal weapon.
■ Someone unlawfully entered a residence Monday in the 2000 block of Stagecoach Court and removed items valued at less than $500.
■ Someone attempted to unlawfully enter a building Jan. 25 in the 2800 block of Landing View Lane and caused less than $1,000 damage to a door.
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Department did not release a booking report or activity log on Saturday.
