No jail visits temporarily

Inmate visitation will be closed Monday and Tuesday because of construction in the detention center lobby, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department.

Inmate visitation scheduling also will be closed Monday, but visitation appointments will be accepted on Tuesday through the inmate visitation hotline, 244-3536.

Sheriff helping fundraiser

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Department is partnering with the Aeropostale store in Mesa Mall for the Teens for Jeans program, which will donate used jeans to local homeless teenagers.

People can drop jeans in a donation box located in the administrative lobby at the Sheriff’s Department during business hours starting Monday. The jeans will be collected through Feb. 14 at the Sheriff’s Department at 215 Rice St.

Anyone who donates a pair of jeans can get a discount on a new pair of jeans at the Grand Junction Aeropostale store. Visit http://www.dosomething.org/teensforjeans for more information.
