2 four-wheelers rescued
Two males were airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital on Saturday evening after being pinned under a truck, according to Mesa County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Mary Gonzales.
The two were in a truck four-wheeling when the truck rolled over a ledge and fell 40 to 50 feet, Gonzales said. Both people were pinned under the truck, but both managed to pull themselves out from under the truck before they were rescued, according to Gonzales.
A call about the pair came in about 6:30 p.m. Saturday and they were airlifted within an hour from an area south of Palisade about a mile and a half west of Horse Mountain by 36 5/8 Road, according to Gonzales.
Fake deputy calls woman
An unknown man falsely identified himself as a Mesa County sheriff’s deputy over the phone Thursday and asked a woman questions about an ATM card, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.
A witness said a man, whom he did not know, used the witness’ phone Thursday afternoon in the 900 block of Colorado Avenue, according to an incident report. The witness said another person heard the man mention something on the phone about a sheriff’s deputy and the witness asked the man to hang up and leave the area. A woman later told a Grand Junction Police officer that a man called her from the witness’ number, identified himself as a deputy, and asked information about an ATM card and its recent use, according to the incident report.
The man is described by police as skinny and 5 feet, 10 inches tall, and was last seen Thursday wearing a red hat, jeans and a puffy blue coat.
