Assault attempt reported
Jerald Earl Herkimer, 31, was arrested Wednesday evening on suspicion of assault, burglary and violation of a protection order.
According to the Fruita Police Department, an officer responded to the 800 block of E. Ottley Avenue for a report of an assault in progress. The officer found Herkimer pinned to the ground by another man, who alleged that Herkimer had tried to run him down with a car while he was riding his scooter, according to police.
Herkimer was uncooperative and after being placed under arrest cursed at the officer, banged his head on a door, spit on the divider window in the patrol car and had conversations with people not in the car, according to an arrest affidavit.
Suspect less than cooperative
Erin Nicole Cantrell, 31, was arrested at Zen Garden restaurant, 2886 North Ave., Jan 9 on suspicion of assault and criminal mischief.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department, officers responded to the restaurant on a report of a drunken female breaking items in the bathroom. Cantrell was visibly drunk and hysterical, according to an arrest affidavit, and officers observed that a toilet paper holder had been torn from the wall.
Police detained Cantrell and called her mother, to which she responded by screaming and swearing, according to the affidavit. After being handcuffed and put in a patrol car, Cantrell screamed, “Let me out of here, I’m an American citizen!” and tried kicking out the back window of the car, according to the affidavit.
Officers removed her from the car and placed her on her side, according to the affidavit, and she tried kicking them and spit on one of them.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
■ Yang Yung, 54, was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Jail Tuesday evening on suspicion of violating a protection order.
■ Tyler Baecker, 28, was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Jail Tuesday night on suspicion of causing less than $1,000 in damage at a location in the 600 block of 25 1/2 Road and intimidating another person.
■ James Cartee, 46, was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Jail early Wednesday morning on suspicion of possessing burglary tools, criminal tampering and theft after someone reported an in-progress theft of a bicycle in the 900 block of Belford Avenue.
■ Andrew Blechschmidt, 21, was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Jail early Thursday morning after being found drunk near Community Hospital, in violation of a bond order and mandatory protection order prohibiting the use of alcohol.
■ Ricky Paul Martinez, 51, was arrested early Wednesday morning at the Mesa Inn, 704 Horizon Drive, on suspicion of punching and kicking his wife on their one-month anniversary.
According to the Montrose Police Department:
■ Michael Chavez, 61, was arrested Wednesday evening on West Main Street on suspicion of unlawful possession of alcohol in a public place and being a pedestrian under the influence on the roadway.
■ Steven Mayhew, 18, was arrested early Thursday morning in the 200 block of N. Uncompahgre Avenue on two outstanding warrants; he also was cited on suspicion of possessing cannabis and drug paraphernalia and consuming alcohol.
