Police warn of electric bill fraud

The Montrose Police Department on Tuesday issued a warning about individuals posing as employees of Delta-Montrose Electric Association who are calling residents, stating electric bills are overdue and need to be paid to avoid losing service. They then advise to go to Walmart and purchase a “COD” card (cash on delivery), police said. Authorities advise it’s a scam and urge anyone to call DMEA directly, 970-249-4572, for questions regarding bills.

Local law enforcement agencies did not release activity or booking reports on Wednesday.
