Child sex-assault alleged
Stephen Edward Perry, 56, of Grand Junction was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of two counts of sexual assault on a child as a pattern of abuse and two counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.
A now 11-year-old told a child forensic interviewer in August and again in December that Perry touched her inappropriately approximately two to five times between 2012 and 2013.
Perry was booked into the Mesa County jail Wednesday morning and remained there as of Thursday afternoon.
Cops seek to ID thieves
The Grand Junction Police Department is seeking information about a man and woman suspected of using stolen credit cards at local businesses.
The male and female suspects were caught on surveillance video between 9:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Sept. 25 entering a gray 2002 Ford F-150 in a Colorado Mesa University parking lot at 1228 Glenwood Ave. The pair removed two knives and a brown John Deere tri-fold wallet from the vehicle. The two were captured in surveillance photos later that day using credit cards from the stolen wallet to make purchases at local businesses.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
■ Monte Carpenter, 51, was arrested Jan. 17 in the 1700 block of North Avenue on suspicion of unlawfully entering a business from which he was restricted. He also is accused of attempting to shoplift items.
■ Jordan McClannahan, 22, was issued a summons Tuesday on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia at 2809 North Ave.
■ Someone entered a vehicle Tuesday in the 400 block of Ridgeway Drive and removed less than $300 worth of property.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office:
■ Daniel Vigil, 42, was issued a summons Wednesday on 32 1/2 Road near Second Street on suspicion of harassing communications, obstructing a peace officer, and disorderly conduct after he allegedly challenged a deputy and another man to fight.
■ A person reported a man tried to stab another man with a knife early Thursday morning in the 500 block of Pauline Street.
