Arrest after Fruita standoff

Edward Peter Kesek, 36, 1031 E. Pabor Ave., Fruita, was arrested Friday on suspicion of child abuse and reckless endangerment, among other charges.

According to the Fruita Police Department, officers responded to a report of felony menacing in the 1000 block of East Pabor Avenue. Kesek barricaded himself in a standoff with police and the SWAT team, according to the Fruita Police Department.

Kesek was arrested on suspicion of three counts of child abuse, domestic violence, prohibited use of a weapon and reckless endangerment.


According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

■ Katrina Leake, 20, was arrested in the 2500 block of South Broadway on Sunday night on an outstanding warrant.

■ Edward Horrocks, 21, was arrested in the 1700 block of Christopher Court on Monday night on an outstanding warrant.

■ Michael Ybarra, 20, was issued a summons Tuesday morning at 28 1/4 Road and Orchard Avenue on suspicion of being a minor in possession of alcohol and intoxicated in the roadway.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:

■ A 14-year-old Mount Garfield Middle School student was issued a summons Friday morning on suspicion of possessing less than 2 ounces of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.


According to the Fruita Police Department:

■ A 47-year-old woman was reported missing Jan. 22; it was later determined that she’d moved to Grand Junction and was not missing.

■ An 11-year-old girl was issued a summons Jan. 23 at Fruita Middle School on suspicion of stealing property valued at about $300.

■ Derick Britton, 22, was issued a summons Saturday in the 500 block of Cougar Run on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

■ Someone broke the rear window out of a vehicle parked in the 1300 block of Windsor Park Drive Saturday; the damage is estimated at $300.

■ Tyrell Scott Hawks, 26, 202 Ribbon Court, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic violence Sunday after striking a woman with a cellphone, causing her pain.

■ Someone entered an unlocked truck parked in the 900 block of Laura Court Monday and stole some car keys. The car, valued at less than $5,000, was then stolen.

■ A United Parcel Service box containing items valued at $142 was stolen from the 1300 block of Monument Court Monday.

■ Someone stole binoculars valued at $350 from a vehicle parked in the 900 block of Laura Court Monday.

■ An iPhone 4 valued at $150 was stolen from the 500 block of Cougar Run Monday.
