Two suspects in drug arrest

Mark Palmer, 37, De Beque, and Leah Burrows, 28, Clifton, each were arrested Monday on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after at least one loaded hypodermic needle and 6 grams of suspected amphetamine were found inside a vehicle Palmer was driving, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.

Ezra Howard, 37, Grand Junction, also was in the vehicle and was arrested on suspicion of a parole violation.

Man cited in trash dumping

 

William “Bill” Houghton, 40, Clifton, was issued a summons Sunday on suspicion of littering after two couches, several dresser drawers and two trash bags were dumped between 6:20 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. Saturday off the side of 33 Road north of the Interstate 70 overpass, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.

Receipts in the trash led a deputy to Houghton. The deputy gave Houghton until today to pick up the trash and legally dispose of it.

Woman hurt in fire

 

One woman suffered minor injuries in a Monday morning residential fire at 53000 Colorado Highway 139 south of Rangely, according to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office.

The fire was reported at 3:26 a.m. Monday, with heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof.

The sheriff’s office and Rangely Fire Department are investigating the cause of the fire.

 

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

■ Chase Cordova, 20, Grand Junction, and Tanner Crites, 20, unknown address, were arrested Sunday each on suspicion of possession of more than 12 ounces of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of more than 12 ounces of marijuana. During the traffic stop, Cordova also was arrested on suspicion of DUI and violating a protection order.

■ Marcus Stinchcomb, 23, Grand Junction, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of third-degree assault and obstruction of an officer.

■ Kelly Hiser, 53, Texas, was arrested Sunday and released on a summons on suspicion of defrauding an innkeeper at DoubleTree by Hilton, 743 Horizon Drive. Hiser was accused of refusing to pay her bill. She also had been named in an arrest warrant issued by Eagle County.

■ A man reportedly pointed a gun at someone Sunday in the 1900 block of North 21st Street when he woke up and found what he believed to be an intruder sleeping on his couch. The person sleeping on the couch reportedly was not an intruder. The case was sent to the District Attorney’s Office for review.

■ Someone cut the fence at Wagner Rents, 2707 U.S. Highway 50, and stole pump valves valued at more than $5,000. The incident was reported Friday.

■ Someone tried to pass counterfeit money Friday at a business in the 1000 block of North Avenue. An investigation is ongoing.

 

According to the Fruita Police Department:

■ Theft of less than $2,000 was reported Jan. 1 in the 800 block of West Ottley Avenue.

■ Someone claiming to be from Xcel Energy took a $370 payment from the victim Dec. 31, 2013, in the 1000 block of Catalpa Court.
