Search on for injured bear
Authorities responded to a report of a truck that hit a bear late Thursday night on Grand Mesa and contine to search the area for the injured animal.
According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife spokesman Mike Porras, his agency and the Colorado State Patrol responded to the accident just after 11:40 p.m. near mile marker 42 on Colorado Highway 65. “Although it does appear that the driver did collide with an animal, our officer found no evidence of a bear, including no signs of blood or a carcass, just some hair on the grill,” Porras said. The agency is continuing to monitor the area for a possible injured bear but had not found one yet as of Friday afternoon.
The driver of the truck was not injured and was able to drive the truck after the accident, Porras said.
