Sex-assault suspect sought
The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department has issued an arrest warrant for Anthony Villegas, 24, also known as “Speedy,” on suspicion of sexual assault on a child, the department said in a news release.
Villegas’ last known address was 40 Burning Mountain Ave. in New Castle. He is a Hispanic male, standing 5 feet 10 inches and weighing 160 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. Investigators believe he may try to leave the country.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
■ Someone stole less than $20,000 in items Wednesday from a vehicle parked in the 1500 block of Poplar Drive.
■ Ariel Joy Soper, 19, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of theft, striking an officer and possession of marijuana for an alleged theft at 2901 Patterson Road.
■ Someone caused less than $20,000 in damage to three different homes under construction Tuesday in the 2000 block of Rock Valley Road.
■ Someone damaged 42 sprinklers and broke 10 lights July 25 at Eagle Rim Park, 349 27 3/8 Road, causing about $1,000 damage.
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Department did not make its daily activity log available Sunday.
