Seat belt campaign begins
Mesa County will be one of the 11 counties where the Colorado Department of Transportation, Colorado State Patrol and local law enforcement will be involved in a night-time “Click It or Ticket” campaign all this week.
CDOT officials said night-time motorists and passengers are least likely to wear their seat belts as vehicle occupants during the day. In 2012, there were 83 drivers and passengers who died in crashes that occurred between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., compared with 76 people in the daytime that year.
