Coroner waiting on tests to establish cause of death

The Mesa County Coroner’s Office is awaiting more testing to determine the cause and manner of death of a Grand Junction man whose body was found in front of a driveway late Saturday night.

Coroner’s officials identified the man whose body was found on Apple Blossom Road in Grand Junction as 27-year-old Coye Harper.

Authorities said an autopsy revealed no injuries that contributed to his death. The coroner is waiting for the results of toxicology studies before determining how and why Harper died.

Man accused of assault

A 28-year-old Grand Junction man remained in the Mesa County Jail on Monday after he was arrested Sunday in connection with an altercation with a victim who suffered a cut hand.

Christopher Ryan Donaldson faces several charges, including second-degree assault, harassment, obstruction of telephone service and others stemming from the incident in the 2800 block of Hall Avenue in Grand Junction.

The victim told police that she was sleeping with a knife under a pillow and urged that he remain in jail, telling authorities that if Donaldson wasn’t kept away, “he will kill me,” District Attorney Dan Rubinstein told Mesa County Judge Bruce Raaum.

Raaum set a $5,000 cash-only bond.
