Fruita’s busy bear

A brown bear that was captured on video rummaging through garbage Wednesday night in the Wildwood subdivision was believed to have been busy again Saturday morning in the 500 block of Amethyst Drive, according to the Fruita Police Department.

The bear was spotted about 9:30 a.m. Saturday moving through the backyards of homes and was last seen at 10 a.m. in the area of 16 and L roads. There were no reports of property damage.

Police urge property owners to keep an eye on pets and children, and call 911 if a bear is spotted.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

■ Austin Urquhart, 18, was cited July 18 on suspicion of smoking where prohibited in the 400 block of Gunnison Avenue.

■ Tammy Pershall, 38, was cited on suspicion of driving under suspension in the area of 28 1/4 Road and Brittany Drive.

■ Pabelo Chirez, 20, and Joey Vallejos, 18, were cited Wednesday on suspicion of smoking where prohibited in the 1200 block of Gunnison Avenue.

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday did not release jail booking or activity reports.
