Clifton shooting victim arrested in drugs case
A 58-year-old man who was shot and wounded in Clifton last year was arrested Wednesday after police who searched the storage unit where he was living found several guns, several glass pipes, needles, Ambien, suspected methamphetamine and psilocybin inside, a police report said.
Harvey Frank Bylsma, who was prohibited from owning weapons because of a past felony conviction, could be charged with weapons possession by a previous offender, drug possession and a special circumstances charge because of having the gun within reach during the alleged drug offense.
The affidavit for Bylsma’s arrest doesn’t specify why police requested a warrant for the storage unit at 433 South Ave.
However, it noted that his girlfriend, 28-year-old Jennifer Isle, was arrested the same day after police who stopped her car found distribution levels of methamphetamine and heroin.
Bylsma was hospitalized in May 2016 after being shot at a Clifton gas station. Two men — Tre Richardson and Andrew Watson — were later arrested in connection with the shooting.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office:
■ Property was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 2900 block of Sunset Drive on Tuesday.
■ Brandon Sanchez, 25, was arrested Friday on outstanding warrants in connection with alleged vehicular eluding, criminal impersonation, resisting arrest, obstructing an officer, aggravated driving while revoked, reckless driving and theft in the 400 block of 31¼ Road.
