Woman ordered to have mental health evaluation

A 66-year-old Mesa woman was arrested after allegedly breaking into her neighbors’ bedroom late Saturday night, an arrest warrant affidavit said.

Tekla Christine Charbonneau was arrested on suspicion of burglary and criminal mischief after residents at the home in the 48000 block of KE 9/10ths Road told Mesa County sheriff’s deputies that Charbonneau had broken glass panes on their back door and burst inside screaming “get your gun,” then ran into their bedroom closet and asked them to lock her inside, the report said.

Charbonneau’s son and legal guardian said Monday in court that his mother has mental health issues. He said he woke up late Saturday night to find Charbonneau gone from their home nearby.

Mesa County Judge Bruce Raaum on Monday released Charbonneau on a personal-recognizance bond and ordered her to complete a mental health evaluation.
