Bullets hit cars, house

Someone fired at least four gunshots outside a residence in the area of 2050 N. 15th St. early Saturday, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.

At 8 a.m. Saturday, a person reported that a vehicle in a driveway at the residence had a hole through an exterior side mirror and that at least one bullet struck another vehicle in the driveway. Part of a bullet hit a corner of the residence as well, according to Grand Junction police Sgt. Jim Creasy, and four shell casings were found outside the residence.

At least one person was in the residence at the time of the shooting but said he was “a heavy sleeper” and did not hear or see anything suspicious, according to Creasy. The vehicles and the residence were undamaged as of about midnight Friday.

National Night Out Aug. 6


Registration is available at for people who wish to have their neighborhood participate in National Night Out 2013, which will take place Aug. 6.

The event is designed to foster better relationships between neighbors by having them get together and enjoy food, games, or whatever activities the neighborhood plans. National Night Out also is supposed to show criminals that neighbors are willing to band together against crime in their area.

Registration is free. All registered neighborhoods will be eligible for a visit from a Grand Junction police officer who can share safety information and answer questions at the event. Members of the Grand Junction Fire Department also will stop by National Night Out events.


According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

■ Someone entered a residence Thursday in the area of 29 and D 1/2 roads without the owner’s permission and stole less than $1,000 worth of property.
