Alcohol violations at Country Jam

Law enforcement officers at Major Mortgage Country Jam in Mack reported 67 summonses were given Thursday for alcohol violations, according to a Facebook post from the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.

Thursday was the first day of Country Jam. By comparison, 25 summonses were given on opening day last year.

More than half the summonses issued Thursday — 44 — were given in the campground. All 44 were given to minors in possession of alcohol.

Within the festival grounds Thursday, 21 summonses were given to minors in possession of alcohol and two were issued for giving alcohol to a minor.

In addition, two fake IDs were found at Country Jam on Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office said.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

■ Someone stole less than $2,000 in property from another person while at a business Thursday in the 1200 block of Gunnison Avenue.

■ Someone stole less than $2,000 in property from a vehicle parked Thursday in the 2900 block of Bunting Avenue.
