Fire set outside The Oaks

Firefighters with the Lower Valley Fire Department extinguished a fire that had been set in a bush outside The Oaks, an assisted living facility at 805 Ottley Ave., Fruita, at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Fire Chief Frank Cavaliere.

A resident of the facility lit the bush on fire, he said. Staff members worked to evacuate the facility, and damage was limited to the outside of the building, Cavaliere said.
