Fire causes smoke damage

The Grand Junction Fire Department extinguished a small fire in a multi-family, two-story home in the 800 block of Colorado Avenue late Friday.

The fire burned the bottom side of the front porch and filled the residence with smoke, but caused limited damage, which was estimated to be about $1,000.

All occupants of the home were evacuated and no one was injured.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

■ Police are investigating a known adult male on suspicion of sexually assaulting a juvenile female in the east part of the city sometime last year.

■  Someone entered a home in the 400 block of Chuluota Avenue on Thursday, causing less than $100 in damage and taking items valued at less than $1,000.

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Department didn’t release a daily report or jail log on Saturday.
