Illegal campsite burned

A woman reported May 28 that two people she knew burned down her camp by the river in the area of Riverside Parkway and Hale Avenue. Damage was less than $1,000. It was an illegal campsite, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.

Knife threat alleged

Robert Gene Morris, 44, no address, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of using vulgar language in public and pulling a knife and chasing a person around a vehicle in the Walmart parking lot, 2881 North Ave., according to the Grand Junction Police Department.

Morris became angry when the victim chastised him for urinating in a public parking lot after some of the urine “splashed” on the victim’s foot and leg, according to an arrest affidavit.

Morris told officers he had drunk two and a half pints of Kentucky Deluxe whiskey before the incident, the affidavit said.
