Cops find meth and pipe
Daniel Joseph Trujillo, 39, and Tausha Lynn Chapin, 33, were arrested on suspicion of drug-related crimes Feb. 22 at 859 Pitkin Ave., according to the Grand Junction Police Department.
A Grand Junction police officer found a black glove behind the rear tire of a vehicle the two were in and discovered a small container inside the glove that contained suspected methamphetamine, according to an arrest affidavit. Another officer searched Trujillo and found a second container filled with a white, crystalline substance, according to the affidavit. A search of the vehicle also resulted in an officer locating the matching black glove in the driver’s side door panel.
Officers searched Chapin’s vehicle, which was parked nearby, and found a clear, glass pipe, according to the affidavit. Chapin was arrested on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, and Trujillo was arrested on suspicion of possession of meth.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
■ A person is suspected of making unlawful sexual contact in December with a child in the northeast part of the city.
■ A 13-year-old boy was issued a summons Tuesday on suspicion of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at West Middle School, 123 W. Orchard Ave.
■ A 16-year-old girl was issued a summons Wednesday on suspicion of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at R-5 High School, 310 N. Seventh St.
■ Cody Baxter and Kevin Chlopek, both 20, were issued summonses Wednesday on suspicion of possession of marijuana at Walnut Ridge Apartments on the Colorado Mesa University campus at 1120 Texas Ave.
■ On Monday, someone stole a vehicle worth more than $10,000 in the area of 1020 Elm Ave. and stole items from a building at that address.
