Man dead after wreck

The 31-year-old male driver of an Audi is dead after a crash on the Redlands just before 3:40 a.m. Sunday. Police had not released the man’s name as of Sunday afternoon, according to Sgt. Stan Ancell of the Grand Junction Police Department.

The vehicle appeared to hit a light pole in the area of Greenbelt Drive and Redlands Parkway, and the driver was thrown from the vehicle, Ancell said. Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The man was taken to a hospital and died of his injuries, Ancell said.
