Man accused of ninth DUI

A man with eight prior drunken-driving convictions was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving Friday on Interstate 70 after several motorists called his vehicle in to police.

Kenneth Wayne Cox, 38, was arrested by an officer with the De Beque Marshal’s Office on suspicion of aggravated driving with a revoked license and a felony drunken-driving charge for having more than three convictions.

An arrest affidavit said Cox’s breath test result was 0.104, which is above the legal limit of 0.08. Cox was in custody of Mesa County Jail on a $15,000 cash-only bond on Monday.

Bus rider suspected of pulling knife on riders

Scott Howard Dunn, 43, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of felony menacing for allegedly pulling a knife out on fellow riders on a Grand Valley Transit bus.

Dunn was apprehended at gunpoint by Grand Junction police officers who could see “a large knife on Dunn’s right hip,” according to Dunn’s arrest affidavit.

Dunn told police he had been drinking alcohol and that he only pulled his knife halfway out of its sheath when he was punched in the chest by another man on the bus, the affidavit said. Other passengers on the bus said Dunn was showing his knife to passengers and making sexual innuendoes, making passengers feel uncomfortable, the affidavit said.
