Assault charge leveled
Ruby Garza, 22, was issued a summons March 16 on suspicion of third-degree assault and misdemeanor child abuse after she allegedly repeatedly scratched a man in her vehicle as she was driving, according to a Grand Junction police summons. The alleged victim said Garza was upset over “wasted gas money,” the summons said. Three small children were inside the car.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
■ Two 15-year-old girls were cited Friday on suspicion of shoplifting at Mesa Mall, 2424 U.S. Highway 6&50.
■ Someone entered a locked property Monday in the 500 block of Main Street and stole items valued at less than $500.
■ Less than $500 in property was stolen Thursday from the 900 block of North Ninth Street.
■ Dorian Canty, 18, was cited on suspicion of theft of less than $500 after being contacted at 815 Kennedy Ave.
■ Samantha Cejka, 48, was cited Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, child neglect and driving with an expired license at 1816 N. Seventh St.
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Department on Saturday did not release jail booking information or activity reports.
