Concealed knife suspected
Billy Young, 39, was issued a summons Wednesday on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon in the area of Grand Junction High School, 1400 N. Fifth St., according to the Grand Junction Police Department.
Officers contacted Young while he was sifting through Dumpsters looking for scrap behind the school’s library Wednesday night, according to the summons.
An officer gave Young a pat-down and found a knife with a six-and-a-quarter-inch-long blade in Young’s front pocket.
Young told officers he did not know it was illegal to conceal and carry a knife that size, according to the summons. The knife was booked into evidence.
