Pills, shoplifting suspected

Justin R. Medina, 25, of Clifton, was issued a summons Saturday at Walmart, 2545 Rimrock Ave., on suspicion of theft and unlawful possession of controlled substances, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.

Medina concealed two Nintendo Wii remote controllers and a digital speaker in his pants, according to the summons, and was detained on suspicion of shoplifting at Walmart.

A Grand Junction police officer who responded to the scene found a plastic baggie on Medina that contained five pills believed to be Clonazepam. Medina said the pills belonged to his brother, according to the summons.


According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

■ A male is suspected of sexually assaulting a person in 1953 in a home in the southwest part of the city.

■  Serious bodily injury was caused during an assault Saturday at 2824 North Ave.

■ Alycia Navarette, 19, was issued a summons on suspicion of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia Thursday in the area of Cannell and Bunting avenues.

■ A 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy were issued summonses on suspicion of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia Thursday at Orchard Avenue and North Seventh Street.

■ A thief stole items valued at less than $300 from a vehicle Feb. 24 at 2461 F 1/4 Road.
