Abuse, menacing alleged
A 26-year-old Grand Junction man was advised on Monday on possible charges of felony menacing and child abuse, for allegedly shooting his gun into the floor of an apartment during a domestic dispute.
Witnesses at the apartment in the 2600 block of B½ Road said Daniel Welker brandished a firearm while a woman was trying to retrieve some belongings from the residence. Numerous people, including children, were in the apartment when Welker allegedly fired the gun into the floor of a back bedroom. Others at the scene wrestled the gun from him until police arrived.
He was granted a personal-recognizance bond on Monday.
