Gun threat alleged
A man suspected of pointing a gun at another person is alleged to have sped away from Grand Junction police when they attempted to contact him about the incident.
On Wednesday, police attempted a high-risk traffic stop of a silver Lexus they believe was being driven by Anthony Milnes, 24, in the area of the Interstate 70 Business Loop and 30 Road, according to an affidavit. Police were investigating a report that Milnes pointed a pistol at someone earlier that day.
According to police, Milnes sped off despite being ordered at gunpoint to exit the car. With police in pursuit, Milnes allegedly jumped out of the car as it approached the intersection of D 1/2 and Doris roads. The car crashed into a fence at 449 Doris Road.
After a foot chase, police apprehended Milnes and found a bag with suspected narcotics in his possession, according to an affidavit. A 9mm pistol was found in a yard nearby, and Milnes was in possession of a magazine loaded with three 9mm bullets, police allege.
Milnes was arrested on suspicion of vehicular eluding, possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence and obstructing a peace officer.
