Backpack thief sought

Local authorities are seeking a male suspect who stole a backpack from a building on the campus of Colorado Mesa University on Oct. 7.

The red-and-gray Ogio backpack contained a black Asus laptop, a graphing calculator, an English book and some prescription medications. The backpack was stolen at 9:45 a.m. from the ACB Building.

A video camera captured a suspect who is a white man wearing a dark jacket with a white stripe across his chest.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office:

■ A man in the 3200 block of E Road reported that a brick was thrown through two windows in his truck on Wednesday night, causing about $1,000 in damage. The man told a deputy who arrived at the scene that he believes his ex-girlfriend and her grandsons threw the bricks.


According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

■ Lake Hurley, 20, of Battlement Mesa, received a summons on suspicion of theft of items valued at less than $100 from the 1100 block of Mesa Avenue on Saturday.

■  A number of lottery tickets were stolen Oct. 25 from a business and cashed, resulting in a loss of less than $300.

■ A 14-year-old boy received a summons on suspicion of being in possession of marijuana and tobacco products after he was contacted Monday in the 700 block of Horizon Drive.

■ A counterfeit bill was used at a business in the 700 block of North Avenue.

■ A woman stole an unknown amount of merchandise from 2881 North Ave., pulled a weapon on another person and fled the area Tuesday.

■ Items valued at less than $50 were stolen from a vehicle in the 2800 block of Ridge Drive on Monday.

■ Sheena Brandt, 25, received a summons on suspicion of shoplifting items valued at less than $300 from Walmart, 2545 Rimrock Ave.
