Driver suspected of meth

Andrew John Distel, 30, was arrested at 1 a.m. Saturday in the area of Ridge Lane and Hill Avenue on suspicion of possession of more than 2 grams of methamphetamine and driving while his license was revoked, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department.

A sheriff’s deputy stopped Distel’s sports utility vehicle after Distel made an illegal turn, according to an arrest affidavit. In a search of the SUV, the deputy found a clear, glass smoking pipe with a white residue that tested presumptive positive for amphetamines.

The deputy also found in the vehicle 16 clear, plastic baggies that contained white crystal shards and a white crystalline substance that tested presumptive positive for amphetamines, according to the affidavit.

3 arrested on warrants

Cruz Galindo, 32, was arrested Saturday morning at 2860 North Ave. on suspicion of possession of a schedule II controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of more than 2 grams of methamphetamine, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, child abuse and driving while her license was restrained, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.

Galindo also was arrested on a warrant. Victor Reyes, 23, and Anjelica Rivera, 19, were arrested Saturday on warrants as well at 2860 North Ave., according to the Police Department, and a minor was arrested on suspicion of possession of more than 2 grams of methamphetamine, possession of more than 4 grams of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of 2 ounces or less of marijuana, and tampering with physical evidence.

 

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

■ Lorin Hunt, 47, was arrested Sunday at 1620 Dolores St. and booked into the Mesa County Jail on suspicion of trespass and possession of a stolen vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia and schedule I and II controlled substances.

■ Dominick Barnes, 26, was issued a summons Saturday on suspicion of two counts of possession of a controlled substance at 2424 U.S. Highway 6&50.

■ A known person is being investigated for suspected sexual assault on a child 
May 1 in the southeast part of the city.

■ Jeffrey Brewer, 18, was arrested Friday at Riverside Parkway and 29 Road on suspicion of third-degree assault, criminal mischief, violation of a protection order, and driving without a valid license.

■ More than $1,000 in damage was caused Tuesday to property in the 600 block of 
29 1/2 Road.

■ Shannon Orr, 29, was issued a summons Sunday in the 2800 block of Mesa Avenue on suspicion of causing less than $500 in damage to another person’s property.

■ A brick was thrown through a glass door Nov. 6 in the 500 block of 28 1/2 Road.

 

According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:

■ Someone stole a gun as early as July 22 in the 3100 block of Palomino Way.
