Assault with bat alleged
A Grand Junction man was jailed Thursday on suspicion of assaulting his father-in-law with a baseball bat.
The Grand Junction Police Department took Raymond Donald Blair, 27, to the Mesa County Jail on suspicion of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, felony menacing, criminal mischief and domestic violence.
According to his arrest affidavit, Blair got into a fight with his wife and her father, Jason Tafoya, tried to intercede, holding Blair in a headlock to try to calm him down.
Blair later came after Tafoya with an aluminum baseball bat, striking Tafoya in the arm and back, according to the affidavit.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
■ Jennie Williams, 49, was issued a summons Nov. 6 on suspicion of shoplifting less than $100 in merchandise from City Market, 200 Rood Ave.
■ Two 14-year-old females were issued summonses Tuesday on suspicion of stealing clothing valued at less than $100 from a store in Mesa Mall, 2424 U.S. Highway 6&50.
■ Two juveniles were issued summonses Tuesday on suspicion of shoplifting items valued at less than $500 from Kohl’s Department Store, 636 Market St.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:
■ Valerie Susan Bruch, 42, of Grand Junction was jailed Thursday on suspicion of possession of less than 4 grams of a controlled substance.
■ Max Andrew Kelly, 36, of Grand Junction was jailed Thursday on suspicion of possession of less than 2 grams of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a revoked license and driving a vehicle with expired registration.
■ Christopher Jon McLean, 36, of Montrose was jailed Thursday on suspicion of third-degree assault.
According to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department:
■ Shawn Robert Lawhead, 31, of Parachute was issued summonses Wednesday on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and hunting without a license.
