Drug ring under scrutiny

The Western Colorado Drug Task Force is investigating a possible large marijuana distribution operation in the Grand Valley.

Late last month, the task force contacted two suspects in their home and discovered more than 12 ounces of marijuana.

More details of that case, which the task force believes is part of a distribution operation, are unknown because the case is under investigation.


According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

■ Candice Valencia, 18, was jailed Tuesday on suspicion of possession of counterfeit currency and drug paraphernalia.

■ Brandy Dorrance, 24, was jailed Wednesday on suspicion of shoplifting items valued at less than $500 from Best Buy, 585 24 1/2 Road, and being in possession of methamphetamine.

■ Paul Burnell, 33, was jailed Wednesday on suspicion of assault of an at-risk adult in the northwest quadrant of the city.

■ Mathew Husley, 20, and Amber Hoffman, 19, were issued summonses Thursday on suspicion of shoplifting at a business in the 200 block of Rood Avenue.

■ Cheryl Love, 47, of Grand Junction, was issued a summons Thursday on suspicion of shoplifting items valued at less than $500 from Walmart, 2881 North Ave.

■ Someone broke into two businesses Thursday in the 1500 block of Independent Avenue and removed property valued at more than $1,000.
