13-year-old started fire
A 13-year-old Battlement Mesa boy is suspected of starting a fire Monday at the “D” building of Willow Ridge Apartments at 854 Battlement Parkway in Parachute, according to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department.
The boy was issued a summons on suspicion of fourth-degree arson after investigators from Garfield County Sheriff’s Department and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation completed an investigation of the fire. The Ninth Judicial District Attorney’s Office and Garfield County Youthzone contributed in the decision to issue an arson summons. The boy and his mother cooperated with the investigation.
The fire began in Unit 204 of the apartment building and spread to a second apartment through a common attic. Four others suffered heavy water damage. No one was injured in the incident.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
■ Gerrig Marsh, 42, was issued a summons on suspicion of possessing stolen property, and David T. Dawson, 40, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia and stolen property, and on suspicion of attempting to destroy evidence on Monday at 200 Grand Ave.
■ A juvenile male is suspected of sexually assaulting a juvenile female 10 years ago in the northwest part of the city.
■ Someone caused more than $1,000 worth of damage to a vehicle parked Saturday at 2836 North Ave.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:
■ Deputies contacted three juvenile boys Oct. 25 in the 400 block of 32 Road and cited one of them for suspected possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
■ Andrew Max Kelly, 35, was issued a summons Oct. 26 in the 100 block of Spruce Street on suspicion of possession of an illegal weapon.
According to the Montrose County Sheriff’s Department:
■ A deputy was dispatched Tuesday evening to a report of a gunshot wound to a juvenile’s foot. It was determined the shot was accidental and the case was transferred to the Montrose Police Department.
