Marijuana arrests on I-70
Numerous people were arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana and/or drug paraphernalia last week on Interstate 70 near the Utah line, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.
The department reported that Daniel Newman, 32, of Centennial, was issued a summons Tuesday on suspicion of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia on Interstate 70 near Rabbit Valley. The same day, Javier Arias, 26, was arrested on suspicion of possession of more than 12 ounces of cannibinoids and drug paraphernalia at mile marker 5 on the interstate, according to the police department.
On Wednesday, the department issued a summonses on suspicion of marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession to Paul Rigby, 22, at mile marker 2 on the interstate; Ralph Sheetz, 62, in the area of Rabbit Valley Trail Head; and Patrick Rafferty, 36, of California, near Rabbit Valley. Chris Coulter, 33, was issued a summons Wednesday at mile marker 1 on Interstate 70 on suspicion of marijuana possession, according to the department.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
■ Kenny Harris, 19, was arrested Thursday at 2424 U.S. Highway 6&50 on suspicion of assisting a juvenile in stealing items worth less than $1,000 from a vehicle and possessing drug paraphernalia. The juvenile suspect was booked into the Division of Youth Corrections.
■ John Douglas Hurt, 31, was issued a summons on suspicion of criminal mischief for allegedly damaging a vehicle Thursday at 200 Rood Ave. by kicking it during a suspected road rage incident.
■ Someone vandalized the hood of a vehicle Wednesday at 538 White Avenue, causing a loss of less than $20,000.
■ Someone caused more than $1,000 damage Wednesday to a vehicle parked in the 2800 block of Texas Avenue.
■ Someone stole items valued at less than $1,000 and caused less than $500 damage to a vehicle Friday in the 400 block of 28¼ Road.
■ Someone stole an item valued at less than $500 Tuesday from a vehicle parked in the 3000 block of Lakeside Drive.
