Fatal crash victim ID’d

The victim of a fatal wreck Friday afternoon has been identified as 39-year-old Allan Ross of Sheridan, Wyoming, according to the Mesa County Coroner’s Office.

Ross, a motorcyclist who was not wearing a helmet, was killed after colliding with a truck near 727 23 Road at about 4 p.m. Friday. The coroner’s office wrote in a news release that Ross’ blood alcohol concentration was “essentially negative.”

Ross’ death at the scene was determined to be caused by blunt force head injuries and has been ruled an accident.


Mailboxes vandalized in GJ


Several mailboxes were vandalized this weekend in the 2100 block of North 17th Circle, according to Grand Junction police reports.

Three separate homeowners made reports about their mailboxes being damaged on Sunday morning, reports said. A local resident, Larry Cappetto, wrote in an email that a total of seven mailboxes were vandalized on the block.

Following concern from local residents, police issued a statement that said anyone is welcome to contact the department’s community resource unit at 970-549-5331 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) for information on how to organize a neighborhood watch program.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

■ Jose Lopez-Valenzuela, 31, was cited on suspicion of driving under the influence, child abuse and other offenses Oct. 1.

■ Someone stole property worth more than $50 from a vehicle in the 300 block of West Valley Circle on Thursday.

■ A burglary resulting in a loss of less than $300 was reported in the 2200 block of North 17 Street on Oct. 1.

■ Jade Jackson, 26, and Kyra Workman, 25, are each accused of drug possession and other offenses Friday.

■ Cheyenna Cannedy, 20, is accused of assault Saturday.

■ Someone stole property worth less than $750 from a vehicle in the 3000 block of Big Bird Avenue on Friday.

■ Someone stole a vehicle worth less than $5,000 from the 700 block of Horizon Drive on Thursday.

■ Brian Haremza, 35, is accused of driving under the influence Sunday.

■ Someone stole a vehicle worth less than $20,000 from inside a storage yard in the 700 block of 22 Road on Sept. 29.


According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office:

■ A theft was reported in the 4000 block of Horse Canyon Road on Sept. 27.

■ Deputies took a child abuse report in the 3000 block of Hill Avenue on Oct. 3.

■ Dominique Samuels, 28, was cited on suspicion of child abuse with injury Oct. 2.

■ KC Picco, 36, is accused of assault Friday.


According to the Montrose County Sheriff’s Office:

■ Paul McCracken, 26, is accused of domestic violence, assault and phone service obstruction Friday.

■ Eric Gross, 36, was cited on suspicion of resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer Sunday.

■ John R. Loco, 24, is accused of driving under the influence and other offenses Sunday.


According to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office:

■ Joshua Boyington, 30, is accused of domestic violence, restraining order violation and bail bond conditions violation Saturday.

■ Joseph Gaines, 56, is accused of driving under the influence Sunday.


According to the Fruita Police Department:

■ Someone stole property from a vehicle in the 900 block of Cliffrose Avenue on Sept. 28.

■ Rickey Albaugh, 42, was cited on suspicion of theft Sept. 29.

■ Michael Blacksher, 30, is accused of criminal mischief Sept. 29.

■ Brandon Krebs, 29, is accused of domestic violence-related charges Oct. 1.

■ Someone stole an unlocked bike worth $600 from the bike rack at City Market, 135 S. Plum St., on Oct. 1.
