Man cited in dumpster fire

A 56-year-old man is facing a misdemeanor arson charge after allegedly starting a fire Friday near a dumpster behind the Clifton AutoZone, 3201 Interstate 70 Business Loop, according to an affidavit.

John McDugle was cited on suspicion of second-degree misdemeanor arson and second-degree criminal trespass after a Mesa County sheriff’s deputy saw him setting fire to a cardboard box. The deputy also found a “secondary pile of remnants of burned trash and ashes” near the dumpster, the report said.

Piccolo lost and found

A Montrose County resident who lost a piccolo last week on Spring Creek Mesa west of Montrose has found it again, according to law enforcement.

The woman made the report to the Montrose County Sheriff’s Office late Tuesday morning, according to the agency’s daily crime blotter.

“She was advised the piccolo had been turned in and she would retrieve it at the sheriff’s office,” the report said.
