Theft of property reported

A man recently out of jail is accused of stealing his ex-wife’s Jeep, her three-legged dog and the woman’s purse.

Jamie Sheeks, 30, faces possible charges of first-degree motor vehicle theft and driving with a license under restraint. He also faces a possible charge of victimizing an at-risk person, due to the alleged victim’s intellectual and developmental disability, according to his arrest affidavit.

Sheeks is alleged to have entered his ex-wife’s home through an oversized dog door. During the course of the investigation, Sheeks allegedly called the victim to tell her she could find the Jeep and the dog at a local hotel where he was staying. He was arrested a short time later.

In court on Tuesday, the victim said, “He needs to be punished because he did this to me twice,” in reference to a similar incident that occurred five years ago.

Sheeks was given a $500 cash-only bond in the case.
