Meth suspect arrested

Melvin Ralph Hunsberger, 37, 3207 W. White Circle, was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Jail at 12:30 a.m. Sunday on suspicion of unlawful possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department.

Hunsberger was arrested at Cottonwood Lake Drive and D 1/2 Road in Clifton after pulling into a driveway without signaling, according to an arrest affidavit.

Hunsberger allowed a deputy to search his vehicle, where the deputy found suspected methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe with a burnt white residue between the driver’s seat and a center console beneath a bag of pork rinds, according to the affidavit.

The suspected methamphetamine in baggies weighed a total of 7.5 grams, according to the affidavit.

Drugs, gun found in home

 

Robert Francis McAndrew, 23, 2915 Orchard Ave., E37, was arrested at 3:48 a.m. Monday at his apartment on suspicion of violating a protection order, possession of a controlled substance, non-injury child abuse and possession of a firearm located next to controlled substances, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department.

McAndrew told deputies he had marijuana in the apartment.Deputies found pre-packaged suspected marijuana in the apartment next to a .22-caliber handgun, plus a scale, and “pay/owe” sheets, according to the affidavit.

McAndrew was restrained from the apartment and banned from contact with his girlfriend who lives there, according to the affidavit, but McAndrew told deputies his probation officer knows he lives there and he wasn’t sure why he was restrained. While deputies were at the home, McAndrew’s girlfriend told deputies she had ingested methamphetamine but none was found in a search of the home, according to the affidavit.

 

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

■ A person was robbed Oct. 1 in the 1000 block of Teller Avenue. The loss was less than $500.

■ Ivan Martinez-Gutierrez, 30, was issued a summons Saturday in the area of Fourth and Main streets on suspicion of possession of marijuana and indecent exposure.

■ A man is being investigated on suspicion of touching a child inappropriately Friday in the southeast part of the city.

■ A man is being investigated on suspicion of sexual assault on a child in 1997 in the northwest part of the city.

■ A vehicle was burglarizd Oct. 2 at 
2779 1/2 Monroe Court, with property valued at less than $100 removed and less than $100 in damage caused to the vehicle. A 28-year-old woman is suspected of unlawfully discharging a firearm and recklessly endangering those around her Oct. 2 at the same address.

■ Property valued at less than $500 was stolen Friday from a vehicle in the 2200 block of Linda Lane.

■ Property valued at less than $500 was stolen Friday from a vehicle in the 2200 block of North 17th Street.

 

According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:

■ A theft was reported Friday in the 2900 block of Orchard Avenue.
