Assault on mom alleged

Jerald E. Herkimer, 30, 825 E. Ottley Ave., unit F5, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of third-degree assault against an at-risk victim, first-degree criminal trespass, among other charges, after he allegedly entered a neighboring residence and punched his mother in the face, according to an arrest affidavit.

Herkimer allegedly said she’d “be sorry if she ever called the cops on him again,” the affidavit said. Herkimer was allegedly intoxicated. The affidavit alleges Herkimer shoved a 61-year-old disabled man to the ground during the same incident.

Applebee’s burglarized


The Grand Junction Police Department said less than $10,000 in cash was missing after officers were called to a burglary at Applebee’s, 711 Horizon Dr. The burglary was discovered as employees arrived at work. An investigation is active.


According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

■ Todd F. Wheeler, 43, 528 N. 18th St., was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of harassment, third-degree assault and misdemeanor child abuse after he allegedly shoved a woman and struck a juvenile boy in the face, according to an arrest affidavit.

■ Property worth less than $1,000 was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 2000 block of North Sixth Street.

■ Someone entered an unlocked property through a rear window in the 600 block of Kapota Street but did not take any property.

■ Items were removed from a locker at Grand Junction High School, 1400 N. Fifth St., causing a loss of less than $1,000.

■ Timothy Jewett, 47, address unavailable, was arrested Monday on suspicion of trespassing in the 200 block of Ouray Avenue.

■ Someone entered a parked vehicle Tuesday at 1250 Bookcliff Ave., causing a loss of less than $500.

■ A window was found broken Monday at 1363 N. 25th St. The loss was estimated at less than $1,000.


According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:

■ Damage and property loss totalled approximately $178 after someone Aug. 24 broke into a home in the 3000 block of Lancaster Gate.

■ A bicycle was reported stolen Aug, 23 from the front yard of a home in the 2900 block of U.S. Highway 50.

■ Deputies took a report Aug. 25 of theft in the 3200 block of Interstate 70 Business Loop.

■ A drug violation investigation was opened Aug. 23 at Mout Garfield Middle School.

■ Deputies took a burglary reported Aug. 23 in the 500 block of 31 1/2 Road.

■ Deputies took a report of criminal mischief in the 2800 block of Unaweep Avenue.

■ A vehicle was reported stolen Aug. 24 from the 400 block of 32 Road.

■ Deputies assisted Fruita officers Aug. 26 on a call involving a man holding a gun in the 700 block of East Harrison Avenue.

■ Deputies took a disorderly conduct report Aug. 26 in the 3100 block of Goldeneye Avenue.

■ Someone reported an Apple iPad was stolen during a recent party in the area of 25 Road and the desert. The report was received Friday,

■ A vandalism report was report was received Saturday of vandalism in the 600 block of Oxbow Road.
