Couple ticketed for unenclosed pot plants

A Grand Junction couple whose backyard marijuana plants reached about nine feet in height were ticketed Wednesday for not having their plants in an enclosed area, according to a report.

Kelley and Robert Cole, whose combined 12 plants were easily visible from outside the six-foot wooden privacy fence at their home in the 300 block of Grand Avenue, allowed Mesa County sheriff’s deputies into their yard Wednesday afternoon, the summons report said.

“It is obvious that there is a plainly visible unenclosed outdoor marijuana grow at this residence, which is illegal,” the deputy wrote in the summons.

Jake E. Gallegos, of Grand Junction, was ticketed after striking the second vehicle, ejecting the other driver from his vehicle, the report said. Gallegos is due to appear in court on the charge on Oct. 16.
