Police: Man bashed victim, causing facial bone breaks
A 37-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges in connection with the brutal beating of a Grand Junction man at his apartment Sept. 4, according to a police report.
Timothy Lane Wells could be charged with burglary, assault and menacing after the attack at an apartment at 415 S. Third Street, an arrest affidavit said. The victim told police that Wells had been drinking at the apartment with him and a woman. He said he told Wells to leave after noticing Wells was getting “more and more drunk,” the report said.
While the resident tried to physically push Wells out the front door, “Tim held his hand or arm against it preventing it from being closed,” the report said. “(The victim) said Tim then charged him and began hitting him in the head and face inside the apartment.”
After being hit an estimated “30 to 35 times,” the victim’s facial bones were fractured, according to staff at St. Mary’s Hospital. He told police Wells told him he was going to kill him, the report said.
Wells was arrested Monday. Mesa County Judge Bruce Raaum on Tuesday ordered him to stay in custody in lieu of a $10,000 cash-only bond.
