Suspected thief arrested
Ian Albert McKinney, 23, a transient, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of vehicle trespassing, criminal impersonation, theft of between $500 and $1,000, obstruction of an officer and criminal mischief of between $500 and $1,000.
McKinney allegedly broke into two vehicles in the alley in the 2400 block of Teller Avenue and stole items from each vehicle, according to the Grand Junction Police Department. When officers found McKinney, he allegedly had in his possession a car stereo, several used lottery cards, a CD holder and CDs, a pay slip, a computer game, cologne and a pocket knife, according to his arrest affidavit.
Initially when he was arrested, McKinney told officers a fictitious name to prevent them from knowing he was wanted on four warrants, the Police Department said.
While McKinney was being medically evaluated at St. Mary’s Hospital after his arrest, McKinney obstructed emergency medical personnel from doing their duty, the Police Department said.
Man suspected of assault
A man allegedly assaulted a man and woman in the 1800 block of Ridge Drive on Monday, according to the Grand Junction Police Department. The suspects allegedly left the scene before officers arrived, but the incident is being investigated.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
Ranee Stewart, 53, was arrested Monday on suspicion of disorderly conduct in the 500 block of 29 1/2 Road. She allegedly started screaming at an employee during a meeting at the Mesa County Department of Human Services building.
Someone forged checks and used a financial device of another person to obtain merchandise valued at more than $1,000 on Monday.
Someone entered a building Monday in the 1600 block of Elm Avenue and stole property valued at more than $1,000.
